I have a sorta guy related question. Isn't that ground breaking?
I think I will leave a few lines for suspense.
My question is - Who here hates when people refer to guys in massive sweeping generalisations? Example? All guys think with their dicks
I know people, mainly girls, who watch constant teen chick flicks and have ocme up with an unshakable idea that "Guys are untrustworthy and sex obbsessed". I am a strong believer in the individual, and that every person has different motivations and drives. Therefore I really don't like being thrown together as people pay out my entire gender after watching "How to lose a guy in ten days" or something.
Know what I mean?
*note* I know this isn't really a question as such.....but its a guy'y topic and this board is empty AS.

The only problem is, I am pretty new I don't know where to put this that would have the greatest effect - since we all know this already, the people who need to know are the ones who do it.

It doesn't matter, just leave it. This is as fine a thread as any. Remember, the more threads you make, the more memory needs to be used on the server.
And I hate sweeping generalisations, but guys do them as well. "Girls are so complicated there's no point in taking them seriously". "Girls have PMS the whole time." "Blonde girls are stupid." "Girls read into relationships too much." Etc, etc.

I make a point never to do that, but then again - anyone who says that guys make sweeping generalisations is making a sweeping generalisation as well.
Everyone does it to some extent I figure, but what bugs me is the warped people who believe if one does it, they all do it.

Well, it still happens. It's a stereotype on a larger scale. Like if I were to say, "All girls are not worth wasting my time on" because I had, say, one bad experience, then I'd be taking one fact, and applying it to the whole gender that is 'female' and it'd be wrong. Or like if a girl has a bad experience and thinks Mr X is self-centered, she might take that knowledge and apply it everywhere, effectively by saying, "All guys think with their dicks" when in fact it was just Mr X.

Yeah.
Fact: Stereotypes annoy people.
