Well this could take a bit to explain...
I have a friend who has had a crush on our best friend for like five years, and he has never had the courage to tell her that. Well one day this other guy (we will call him Tom but that is not his real name) who said that if he didn't "do" her then he would "do" her. He came to me for advice on whether to tell her or not. So he did. We do not know what she was feeling when we told her (since it was online.) and then all of a sudden there was talk about Tom asking her out. We both knew that this was a way to anger him. It doesn't seem like he is jealous only protective of what he "could" possible do to her.
Well couple days later we think Tom gave up, so we were a bit relieved. One of our friends Patrick (again not his real name) told him (my friend, not tom) that she had said yes to Tom. Of course the only problem he had was the fact that she said yes despite what he had said about her. The thing that crushed him the most was the fact that she never planned on telling him that she had said yes to him. She was going to keep it a secret. So now he is hurt that she would do a thing like that.
During the past few days they've drifted apart. They've been such close friends. At one point you could hardly see them separated, now he has changed his route, never hanging out with her in the first period class of hers, never being late to class because he was with her, no longer talking to her during lunch, never taking time out of his way just to make sure she got home safely each day, going out of his own way.
Everyone has been talking about him behind his back saying that they all knew that he was jealous and angry at Tom for asking her out. Everyone else knew how much he liked her. Could it be that he is jealous? Or could it be he doesn't want to be there if he turned out to be right about what he told her?
