making the first move means making yourself vulnerable and giving the other person the knowlege that with a single word they can send you into a moderately sized spiral of dispair , for me , i was made fun of between 1st and 8th grade , so i have no experience talking to the opposite sex , so i so far have one attmpt chalked up , and it was a crash and burn .
no one likes to be vulnerable so no one likes to make the 1st move .

I think it depends on the person I'm with and the situation. The last guy I dated let me make the move first, I suppose because he didn't know my body language.
Sometimes I make the first move, sometimes they do. It's always dependent on the situation for me.
Actually, now that I think about it, the last few relationships I've been in I've made the first move. But after that the guy sort of lead it.
