The (US) goverment certainly does not openly line up its actions with religion... The senators that vote on such decisions have their reasons for denying this one "right".

I dont think anyone should have a say on what happens in someone else's romantic life. Seriously HOW does it effect them? They don't like seeing gay couples? Well tough shit maybe they don't want to see you. I hate it when people try to force their own beliefs on others because "thier way is the right way. Its all a load of shit and people need to get a more interesting life so they aren't waisting their time thinking about other peoples life and actually getting severely angry over it. People against Gay rights are pathetic individuals.

I myself don't see what the differences are but I do believe that a religion that is against it should not marry a couple who is same-sex they could get something else instead. I don't really follow whats going on with this on the news its just what I think. Why wouldn't they be allow the same rights as a straight couple? Thats weird. Being married is being married whether your same sex or not.
If you don't pick a side then what do you believe?

Just because you think something is gross doesn't mean there should be a law against it. There are some people who would think that two fat people having sex is "gross," or an old woman getting married to a 20 year old man would be "gross," but that doesn't mean they should not be allowed to get married. How is that different from two men or two women?

I think as long as the couple doesn't try and get married in a church or temple were gay marrige is against the religion, it's perfectley fine.

Well, that's the thing. A lot of things like that are completely open to interpretation, and two people of the same religion wont agree on every issue. But, I just kind of have problems with organized religion in general, so I don't know. But I think it should be based on the individual performing the marriage. If he wants to perform it in his church, whether or not the religion as a whole agrees, he should be allowed too.

But I think it should be based on the individual performing the marriage. If he wants to perform it in his church, whether or not the religion as a whole agrees, he should be allowed too. What if the religion according to its Writings (such as the Bible) strictly prohibits the activity and joining people in sight of the activity? Thats the problem.
