My problem is why more then often docters throw a pill at somone emotional problem rather than connecting with them. I would often go to an elderly home on my own time and play cards with an elderly man who was depressed, his who family was dead, the fact I was there for him playing cards with him and talking to him ment somthing to me, to be deeded is a beautiful thing, and to offer some emotional stability in somones life can make a huge diffrence a littl red capsul is unable to. sure I can understand somtimes a pill is really needed but other times the case is just the fact sombody needs to connect with them, to get down onto their level insted of be Dr. so and so with a name tag that is just their to do their job and make money and go home.

I tend to disagree with you. Therapist don't just give them pills and send them on their way so they can make money and get home. They would be held liable if anything went wrong while the person was on the pill. I think it has to do with mostly how bad it is for the person, how bad their depression is. Not everyone can be helped through depression that easily, by someone talking to them. It takes more than that, which is where the pill comes in. Because what I believe is this, people who are depressed are hard to get through, and the pills help them get better. I don't see it a bad thing if they have to take the pill so they aren't depressed. I was lucky I didn't have to take one, my dad never noticed how depressed I was, but I got out of it by my best friend who wanted to talk to me again.

Exactly simply verbally connected with you made it a lot better did it not?

I think medication is well... useless in most instances. I believe that medication is a "easy fix" for someone who is depressed and well not all medication works for people I think talking and sorting things out acctually help you get BETTER in the long run. Medication just covers up the problems instead of fully fixing them.

Well, I don't know about other people, but medication has helped me more than talking ever could. Sure, people can tell you they care, and people can act like they care. But a lot of the time, if you're depressed, you may not believe that they care, and you definitely wont believe that they understand. I take meds and I used to see a therapist, but since the meds I haven't needed the therapist. My problem has not been covered up, thank you very much. And it was not a quick fix, or an easy one. It still hasn't been fixed completely, but thanks to the meds, I can do that myself now. My problem is when people say things about medication when they've never been on them and quite frankly, don't know anything about them.

i think it depends on the person, personally medication never helped me, in fact it made me worse, giving me hallucenations instead, but i also know poeple that if they werent on medication, they'd probably be dead now. and some people actually cannot be off antidepressant medication...their brain chemicals are actually so imbalanced they cant go off meds for long before they go wierd...i know a few like that

But how would you know if the person was speaking out of personal experiance or not? Either way yes medication can help some times but I also believe in some cases its a cover for most problems and a easy fix. People become dependent on it and believe the only way they wont be depressed etc is if they take medication.
