Sorry, I don't really know much about ADD- But I had a friend who had it. I think you can prescribe medication for it- if you are dignosed by a doctor for sure. But, people with ADD can defintely lead normal lives.

Only a doctor can evaluate you and tell you if you have it or not.

Agreed. ADD is not just a single disorder, it is infact a large category of different things, each one needing slightly different treatment, and having slightly different effects. Its like saying you have a computer. Thats great and all, but it dosent tell you anything about the computer itself. Go and talk to your doctor in private about it, and work out what you can do to diagnose the problem.

I would definately see a doctor. I'm going to reveal a secret for ya: I have ADD as well. I was diagnosed with it a few years ago. It sounds like you have a possibility of having it but the doctors can test you and find out the truth. Good Luck ;D

I was diagnosed with ADD earlier this year, its not really a problem for me, I can still do my schoolwork and everything, I just find it hard to recall certian bits of information.

I have ADD. I was diagnosed when i was a baby. I got it from my father. Over the years it has gotten better. But i still have some problems remembering things and even if i thought of it a second (literally a second) earlier i will forget it when i try to say it. My cousin also has ADD and he is younger than me. He talks non stop all day and night. I also had that symptom too when i was younger. It has gotten better. I still talk a lot though... just not non stop. You would in fact, as these people have asked, suggested, or told you to, go see a doctor. They are the best or most likely the only way to find out if you acctually have ADD. I sometimes get side tracked too just only when things bore me. But i suppose that is common for all teenagers . Also if you do have ADD you will most likely have tics. Tics are actions that turn into habbits. I had them a lot when i was a kid. For example: Twitching of the eye, repeatedly sticking your tounge out. Most likely when you have a tic you will continue to do it until you are satisfied. The only way to get rid of tics is to break the habbit, basicly fight the urge to do it, just stop. They do in fact have medicine for ADD to help with the tics. When i was younger i used to take zoloft and ridilen (unsure if spelling of medicine names are correct). I have not needed to take medicine for some years now though. People with ADD can live normal lives. There are different levels of ADD. I have most likely the lowest one to where it is not noticable. When i was a child it was more servere. A lot of people have the servere level of ADD. I believe i know four people with ADD. I hope you find your answer.~ The Black Cat

Remember that ADD is the highest-diagnosed disorder in the world. And that means the highest mis-diagnosed. For instance, if you're a tiny bit hyper and can't focus a little, they'll say you have ADD. I am avoiding going to the doctor for this very reason - I don't want medications to stop my normal behaviour, and I'm convinced if I get tested for ADD I'll come up positive.

i already knew that. i wouldn't talk about it like i did if i didn't know. i don't doubt that though. Ahhh of course it's because people are lazy or the doctors are ...what was it... *thinks* loonies. Some people who do have ADD like me have to have surgery to lessen the affects it causes. I had surgery once... what was i going to say... ....ummm...erm... *thinks* this might take a bit....................... (a bit later... a minute or two later).......................................ah yes, people are paranoid. they always think that they have a desease or illness when they don't and they will exagerate. So of course doctors mis-diagnose somebody when they exagerate and tell the symptoms to be so bad that the doctor just HAS to believe them(a bit of sarcasm there i believe).............. this has been a bad day for me......... -_-'
