Alright, I will admit it.
Has anyone ever heard of the game Counter-Strike? Well, it is a computer game that thousands of people play all around the world. They have tournaments and events that you can win thousands of dollars at. Well, I am pretty close to becoming a professional and I have been playing a lot. Let me reword that, I have been playing for two years straight.
I am starting to see my parents point about this. They told me that this is the reason why I have been not going to school lately and almost not being able to graduate. The thing is, if I really wanted to quit this game, I would do it. I enjoy playing it, and let me tell you. It gives me a bigger rush than I have ever gottin while playing any other game/sport. When you win a tournament/event you have a great feeling in your gut, it is amazing.
To add on to the subject about school. I am going back this tuesday and taking a 15 hour long test that will last about a week. As soon as I pass this test, I will be walking with my class.
So, do I have a problem? I also forgot to add the hours I play. From the time I wake-up, to the time I fall asleep I am on the computer. I have ruined my social life and many friendships because of the fact I want to turn "professional". I am close at it like I pointed out but, is it worth it?
Thank you for your time.

Oh no. My favortite game!! I used to be the same way until I lost my disc and it was wiped off when we reformatted the computer. I wish I still had it though I would still be playing. Have you ever played on X-box Live? Thats fun too! Anyways.. it is a problem because you have let it consume you and I know thats VERY easy to have that happen because the game is addicting. Think about this though.. Were is it going to get you in your life? Does it have a job at the end of it or a social life? No it doesn't once you move out you won't know much other then counter strike and it sure isn't going to pay the bills. I think for the mean time do your test finish school and play it in your free time only. You have to find away to have everything in a healthy way. Try and schedual time for school, friends and counter strike. I was at the point when I was like hypnotized into the game and I would make up excuses not to go somewhere with freinds. << Not good. Also, your health comes into play. Staring a computer screen for that long eventually gives you big black rings around your eyes and very poor circulation which could lead to blood clots and other things. I think you should take a break from it and see how you feel.

I think you should take a break from it and see how you feel. Yeah, I started playing XBL's Counter-Strike before I even started on the PC. I wish I would have found out sooner though. Anyways, I know it has started to take over my life it's just that I can't really help it because I enjoy it so much. It's like baseball (but not healthy), it is really fun to play. Right now, the video game industry is growing everyday. Let me tell you this, you will see Counter-Strike (eSports for that matter) on live television within this year. They have already been talking about it for some time now. I do ask that question everyday. Where will it get me later in life? You are right. It won't get me anywhere but do you know who fatal1ty is? He is a millionaire because he plays video games. The question is though, how many people will actually make millions off of it? Not many. No more than ten people if that. I have taken a break from it before, and trust me. I felt great. I was feeling really healthy but, it just seems the more time I take away from my gameplay the less amount of time I have to turn professional. It's just weird for me. I typed enough, I hope I cleared everything you were asking. Sorry if I didn't.

When you turn professional what will happen then? I never played in any of the tournaments or anything like that before so I don't exactally know how they work.

When I turn professional we will compete in professional leagues and tournaments. For an example. cevolved.com - That is a league for Counter-Strike players that you can win $ online. For 1st place, you will win around $4,000 thecpl.com - That is a tournament/event on LAN. It happens twice a year (in the summer and winter) and first place wins $40,000 in cash. It's really amazing how much money they get really. If you are on a really good (top) professional team that has a great manager. You will have all of your expenses covered when you travel, and get free equipment for your pc and anything else you would need. You would also get a weekly pay check of roughly $200 or more.

Dear Moto:
You have good reasons for having second thoughts:
"I have ruined my social life and many friendships because of the fact I want to turn "professional".
Maybe it is time to really consider what you want more:
1.) Counter-Strike pro OR 2.) Family, Friends, Social Life, and Education.
If I were in the same position, I would let go of the game, because it might be fun - but it is not worth my life and relationships.
Be wise and do what feels right to you. Good luck.

That made me think a little and well, I would rather have my family and friends by my side always. I am trying to balance my life out now, and just have a couple hours or a little more a week for gaming. We will see how that goes. Sorry I can't help, I play games about 50 hours a week. Haha.

I know how hard it is to stop playing video games...I know that if I get a new video card, one good enough to play Battlefield 2, I'll have to change my name to 'Aviator the Recluse'

Dear Moto:
I'm so glad to hear that you have figured out a plan and a solution! That is great! I'm so proud of you for cutting back on the gaming. I understand how hard it is, but you'll thank yourself for it later, along with your family and friends!
;D Three Cheers for Moto! Hope it works out for you.
