For as long as I can remember I have been questioning my gender identity. I identify myself as female, but I don't really "feel" like I belong in this body. I dont mean to say I'm going to have a sex change because I don't think I would ever do that. I love knowing I have the ability to carry a child and it's a beautiful feeling. I usually wear baggy clothes, and shop in the "mens" or "boys" department in stores. When I was younger, and even now I've been labeled a "Tomboy". I sometimes feel like I'm really a male, just trapped in the wrong body. But I usually try to hide those feelings, even from myself. I tell myself to shut up and try to conform to what society believes women are, whatever that is. But I can't. I almost feel like I don't fit into either gender. Is there something wrong with me?
btw this site looks awesome ill be joining soon!

hmmm. interesting this could be alot of things. either that i know quite a few girls that shop in the mens section due to their reasons but also the only thing that comes to mind is that your hormones decide who you are. meaning the morale question and i dont want to insult you do u like other women?

There is nothing wrong with you.People are born differently and in bodies that they don't really feel they belong to. You are not alone out there. And your feelings are perfectly normal please do not try to hide your true self you need to let it evolve so that you can become the person you truly are. I would suggest talking to a counselor or your parents about your feelings so that they can reaffirm the fact that you are normal and it is perfectly fine. They can further help you to sort out your feelings.

Many girls grow up as tom boys. I think its just because they like sports and other sorts of things. I don't think theres anything wrong with you at all.

You can still enjoy all the traditional 'guy' things, yet still be feminine. There is nothing wrong being a tomboy. And when you grow older, it is the girls who can be 'one of the guys' and also be very feminine who get the most attention. Plus, nobody said you have to wear tight clothes, makeup and all the girly stuff that girls are usually into. You should be you. You don't have to comform to the role of a princess to be a girl.
Your body was given to you so you could live in it in the way that feels natural for you. You don't have to label yourself at all as a "woman" or "non-woman", just be who you are, do things you enjoy, be around people who make you happy, and spread your open-minded attitude to those around you.
You're certainly not alone with your feelings. There are so many people out there under the false impression that they don't "belong" or are "wrong" or "weird". You're neither of those things, and you do belong.

bah... dont lets your fears infulence you, if you dress up baggy or anything its fine, everyone has thier own choices by looking at others and comparing yourself, your trying to become something your not ..be yourself. cause thats who you are , and thats who you'llbe all your life..if they cant accept it screw them.

"Many girls grow up as tom boys. I think its just because they like sports and other sorts of things." So what are you saying - girls can't play sports? That was a pretty sexist comment you made.

and hey, everyone's different. If you're as people say a tomboy, then that's ok. Is it too much of a personal question, though, to ask if you're straight, bi, or lesbian?

Whoa... you remind me or myself. I get so pissed off with this gender, and the other day my mom actually asked me if i wanted to be a guy (altho i had never told her how i felt.) i was just like, "..... no..." I'm not really into sport because i get crap if i stuff up (mostly from girls) altho I'm into Baseball, Ice hockey, Horseriding and Wrestling (and i'm good at wrestling ), i do play other sports with just family or really close friends because i guess i trust them. I mostly wear guys clothes, do a lot of guy sorta things, prefer being around guys etc. I hate periods, and not being about to walk around in public topless, i hate not being able to sing like most guys (even though i sing reasonable like them anyway), i can't stand the people i get stuck hanging around with, to help it all i HATE my age and dont get along with people my age, I am not lesbian nor bi, more just openminded, I just tend to be more interested in penis (like if i was a guy i would most likely be bi heading towards gay), all the sex side of being a guy/ being a guy and being gay appeals to me more.... I can't stand the fact that i can fall pregnant. But i would not get a sex change, main reason being i don't want to alter my body. So yeah, you're not alone, and just don't worry about it coz you'll find your way, you'll find things that work for yourself and others that don't, all i can say is if people give you shit for it... don't listen to it.
