You don't have to charge your ipod on your compy that is true. You can buy a wall charger and most electronic stores. All you have to do is use your usb port and the charger. It's simple and cheap. It's $30 and can be used with all ipods. =] I own one and it's awesome to have around.

To delete all the songs from your ipod you have to go to the mini screen where itunes store, library, playlists, ect. are and there should be a ipod icon when your ipod is hooked up. You have to right click on that icon and scroll down to ipod options. After clicking on that another screen will appear. You look down and towards the middle of the page it will say music, podcasts, calender, ect. in little tabs. Click on the music tab and look down. There will be three options with circles next to them. Two should be above a little box. Go to the one below the box and it should say Manually manage songs and playlists. Click on the circle next to that and press OK. If another little box appears then just click OK as well. Now go into your ipod and highlight the songs you would like deleted. Once highlighted just press the Delete button (Del on the keyboard). A screen will come up saying do you want to delete the selected songs. Click OK and your done!
I hope this helps at all =]]
