So, there are many ways to download music from the internet. Warez, torrents, Peer 2 Peer, and generally people just sending it to eachother. But is is destroying the music industry? Some might say that it's thier own fault, because albums are too expensive? Not really, Around £10-15 average for an album is hardly a fortune, although it may be to some people... It seems people are downloading music from the internet, most probably because it's free, easy, a lot of people do it, you can even make money out of it. The music industy is loosing a lot of money a month, with at least a few billion (according to a report I read) files a month being downloaded through the most popular peer to peer software. What are your views on this? Do you belive it's the music industry's fault? or someone else's? Because once the industry is broken down, skint, with no money because of piracy there will be no music anymore...

I think they should lower the cost of albums. Ok- it's not a fortune, but I can't afford it! I have other things to buy, and a CD is real luxury to me. I think they should make albums about 10.00 and singles cheaper still. It's pathetic.

Everyone wants money. The music industry is pissed because they've lost a couple dollars. But it's not ruining them. There was a study (I think it was a Harvard study, but I'm not sure) that showed that music downloading is most of the time used like a radio. They listen to the songs, they like them, they buy the CD. I download all the time. I haven't bought a CD in years, but it's not because I can download, it's because I don't have the money. I would if I could. One reason is because I like having the actual CD, it looks better than a burned one, lol. And because I can put it on in the car or the radio in my house, which is usually better than listening to it on headphones or something. So, no, I don't think it's ruining the music industry. I think they're just whining because they've lost a couple dollars. It's not like they aren't filthy rich anyways.

The music industry has been overcharging us for music for years; now we're just trying to find a fair balance. Consumers are pissed and shifting to alternate means of getting music. Plus they choose to support their favourite artists in other ways, such as buying shirts or going to concerts. The MAFIAA (Music And Film Industry of America Association) are suing little kids to get their money back for more lawsuits. It's legal. Whether it's morally right is another thing. Do you think a college kid deserves to drop out because he downloaded a few Metallica mp3s, and now he has to pay something like $42,000? I also found this website: www.downhillbattle.org/
