UV rays are ultraviolet radiation that the sun emits. They are harmful in large doses when you dont use protection (sunscreen). They can cause burns, or in the worst case scenario, skin cancer (although this takes a very large amount of UV rays to create). SPF 5 is not very good. You should wear sunscreen with SPF of at least 15, 30 if you want to play it safe, but you still cannot spend all your time outdoors, make sure you only are outside for about one hour if you only wear SPF 5. If you wear SPF 30+ sunscreen you can stay outside for three hours at a maximum, but any more and you can get burned. Here is an awesome link to visit: www.sundicator.net/uv_calculator.htmlHope this helps!

Whoa mine says I should only tan for 55min.. When I'm out on the boat I'm in the sun for over 4 hours. SPF5 isn't a good coverage, especially since its in tanning oil. The oil burns or tans your skin already, Get a higher SPF.

Babycake you should stay out of the sun LOL! UV rays can and will give you aging spots, wrinkles, moles, freckles faster thens someone who worse sunblock and stayed in the shade. This is someone with skin cancer If you overdose on the sun enough years at the beach, thousands of rounds of golf, 5-mile runs at lunchtime three times a week, just to mention a few recreational items -- you will definitely pay for it sooner or later. You'll end up paying your friendly dermatologist to check a few little odd spots, and to freeze a few now and then, maybe a little minor surgery and an occasional biopsy, and so on. The price will mount, way beyond the cost of a few quarts of suntan lotion.

Wow... Next time I feel like tanning, I'm gonna think of that picture. I don't think I'll be going to the beach today, LOL.
