Yes, it can but I think you posted in the wrong place.
It can make you really ill, physically and mentally. Yuo hold things in, but sooner or later you crack, and thigs come out in not very good ways. These can be things like suicide, a huge arguement, breakdowns, depression- any thing.
Do you wanna alk about what you're holding in?

But anything physical? I dont really care about the mental part of it. My friend keeps saying if I dont talk and keep things in then I will have medical problems like with (heart liver etc) those things.

Let me look it up cos I'm not very clever ... ... ... Physical symptoms (of depression): slowed movement / speech; change in appetite / weight (usually decreased but sometimes increased); constipation; unexplained aches and pains; lack of energy / lack of interest in sex; and changes to the menstrual cycle (in women). __________________________________________________ That was the only thing I could find.... maybe some one else is more knowledgable. My friend says holding things in (problems wise) cause you health problems, Is this true? I think if there is something that is really bothering you, and you hold it in for a long time, then there would be side-effects. I hold things that upset me in all the time, but all that has ever happened to me is I don't want to do anything or I just want to sleep or something like that.

And not sleeping causes bloodshot eyes, lack of concentration- the list goes on. I think it doesn't have any effects exactly, just causes a domino effect which can effect your health, if thats any help.

Many things can happen my mom had a friend from highschool that when every you asked her what was wrong she would say "oh nothing" and she always refused to talk about her problems and one day like when they were 40 she started to get health problems and the doctor said it was built up stress, it puts pressure on your heart and you develop ulcers, age faster, the ability to learn and remeber things, hard to concentrate, having huge break-downs and all a sudden going into a deep deep deep depression and lots of other things so its best to just get it out.
