One of my X-friends, who I have known since I was 4, has been fingered from every one of her boyfriends. And she had a new one every week, so.... yeah.
I learned this yesterday and I was shocked. I know what it is, but, why would you do it?
And, if you get fingered, are you still a virgin? Cause, her friend told me she was "1/2 virgin" And that didn't make sence.
Oh, and she is currently in 8th grade, and was in 7th during all that sha-bang
Thanks!

The deffinition of a virigin. Main Entry: 1vir·gin Pronunciation: 'v&r-j&n Function: noun : a person who has not had sexual intercourse
There is no such thing has "1/2 virgin". If you want to be absolutely certain that everyone will regard you or your friend as a virgin, you can't do anything "below the waist," either yours or your partner. People do it because if feels good, they enjoy it and if they don't want to have intercourse its another way of getting some of the same pleasure.

Exactly what Babycakes said. People have different beliefs about virgin... I think it's only if you have sex you're not a virgin. Fingering can give people pleasure, can feel good if the guy does it right. It also expands the bonds of trust between you and a person, make things seem more special.

Ditto no such thing as half a virgin, either you are or you are not. Masterbation in my belief is along as the hymen is still in tack you are a virgin but you can also break your hymen by horse back riding etc. I would say she is still a virgin.

i have a friend who believs she is a "half-virgin" because she was fingered.
i was like umm... dos that mean a tampon takes away your virginity???
pretty much, i have no idea why people do it. it seems kind of nasty to me, and truthfully here (though i might come across as hypocritical) if you get an inexperienced guy (there are waayy too many of 'em) it hurts.

In my opinion "virginity" is sort of a useless word (UNLESS it's part of your spiritual beliefs). "Virginity" is not a medical condition, there's no way it can be proved, and it means all different things to different people. Most heterosexual people consider first "penis-in-vagina" sex to be first "real" sex -- but some would say that being fingered or having oral sex is really "having sex."
In my opinion, call yourself whatever you want, but beware that if your sexual partners say "I'm a virgin!" they could mean that they've done "everything but" penis-in-vagina; so, they could still have contracted STIs. Just a tip.
As for WHY couples engage in "fingering" -- because it gives sexual pleasure!

It depends. Girls can break their hymens in all sorts of ways, not just from having sexual intercourse. Some girls would say that kissing or touching would be loosing their virginity. To each their own I guess.

Your still a virgin, the only time when your no longer a virgin is if the penis inserts the vagina

People like fingering cause if done correctly it feels very good
And personally, I wouldn't call her a "half virgin". Silly concept.

I wouldn't say she's a virgin. Virgin implies zero sexual experience. 'Virgin' = untained, pure etc.
OK, I better not say 'untainted' because someone will jump at me. But the general idea is that you haven't done anything with anyone, including intercourse, oral sex, mutual masturbation (including fingering) etc.
I agree with Biancasaur: 'virginity' is not a medical term. It's purely belief-centred.
