Kira is picking up swear words from my brother. I have asked my parents and him to stop using this language ((or allowing him to use it around Kira)) My parents say that if I don't like it I can leave. I don't know what to do. I have told Kira that the language she uses isn't nice and I don't want to have to punish her b/c my brother is teaching her this stuff. I would find somehwere else to live but I'm only 14. What should I do?

Oo thats a tough one! Have you asked your brother to stop or just asked your parents to tell him too stop? nvm I just re-read that *posting*
OKAY. That would be really tough, you would think parents would not want their grandchild to be using foul language! How old is your brother? I don't think its a good idea for you too just leave with no safe place to go. Could you try and keep Kira away from them when they are swearing or use "ear muffs". It would be so much easier if they could just watch what they say lol.

My brother is 11 and has the mouth of a sailor. He has been teaching Kira a lot her "new words" and my dad plays a big part in it too. The problem is, when I go to school my parents watch her and my brother gets home an hour earlier than I do. I would try and cover her ears when they are swearing but she throws temper tantrums when something is on her head or her ears ((except the ribbons in her hair, she loves those )) I am definately not leaving. I would have nowehere to go and I want Kira to be raised around her family.

*thinks* Hmm. Everything that everyone else has said is right. You should sit your parents down, and talk tto them, like say "I don't want Kira to grow up using bad language, could you please explain this to _______(brother) and get him to try and stop?" If they don't agree with you, then. I don't know.

I still think you should ask a teacher you trust a cunselor or a paster.

Ahh, yes, my brother picked up his colorful back in Sweden........Swedish tv is uncensored anyways, he started when he was about 9. My brother loves Kira and he spends a lot of time with her. I've tried to explain to him that Kira looks up to him and she copies his language.

If you can't get your parents or brother to understand, is there someone else that could help tell your parents or brother that swearing excessively around a little kid is not really nice/good? Perhaps a family friend?

Perhaps a family friend? I agree you should talk to someone that knows your parents and brother vary well, then maybe they will talk to them about it and try to make them understand that they are being a bad influence toward Kira
