I just visited your site for the first time and i loved it. I have a question. I am almost 15. All of my friends shave (private parts) and make fun of people calling them hairy. It seems to be that everyone shaves there. I tried it once or twice and got red bumps. What are these? and What should i do?

I always get red lumps when I shave. Even on my legs. I guess its some thing to do with the hair getting pulled as they go flourescent red when I wax. I think it's just normal... does it go after a while?

Yes razor burn is what it is (I think) Make sure you use a sharp razor like killerstyle suggested and a sensitive (NON-sented) shaving cream. The scented stuff can irritate it more. Soaking in warm water before also helps.

Dont feel pressured to shave your privates just because all your friends do. Besides, why would they check

Dear Gizmo:
Sounds like you might just be having an allergic reaction. Since the skin tissue around our private areas are very sensitive, that might just be the result of shaving there (as suggested) an unsharp razor, or scented shaving cream.
If the bumps presist after a long while, you should consider seeing a female doctor. She will probably be able to help you solve this little problem.

Those could be ingrown hairs, which can be very painful. I get those when I shave anywhere, especially armpits. In my opinion, shaving the pubic area is unneccessary... and I think it looks weird when there's no hair there.

hmp...lots of ideas and opinions ....if you want to shave it, shave it ..if not just trim it , other wise it willget out of control.. as for the red bumps, not really a problem..it happens to guys even when they shave thier beard *points at his beard*.. its coz the skin is senstive....put a little powder , or cold water for a while and it will go off..probbly for a day it will be a bit red..and try not to ich...after a while it wont get red...

dont shave because your friends are...
shaving just err... but depends how long after you mean... like i'll occasionally do my bikini line and after the hair regrowing causes red bumps... i dunno

It's from the blade. There usually is irritation no matter where you shave. Try, maybe the Nair products. They work well for the sensitive areas.
