Not a huge problem, but I'm starting to notice something. I'm becoming obsessed with my grades. I worry if I studied enough before every test-and then remember that I studied more than I did last school year and last school year I got nearly all As. I keep telling myself just to try my best but I don't often feel satisfied unless I get an A. It's annoying me somewhat because my best friend was even more obsessed and she cried if she got a B+ and I don't want to be like her. I think I sometimes want to get good grades for attention, but I'm not sure what exactly is going on. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting good grades without going nuts about it?

Welll your life won't be over with a B+ I think your worrying about it too much,. You shouldn't stress out about it its bad for your health. Do the best you can. You got straight As last year so do what you did then.

I know I'm doing fine-last year I did homework in the morning of the due date and this year I'm finally doing it after school. I think I get worried about it because I want to prove myself and maybe get attention...I have a disability and am extremely shy so...Well, anyways I keep telling myself to relax though I felt better about the last couple of quizzes I took. Part of me is not caring so much about it...for now. How do I..you know, relax and take it easy though?

Its all in your head, the more you worry about it the worse you will feel about it and the more hyped up about it you will be. (losts of about its lol) When I have things due I just schedual a resonable time to do them and get it done then. If you have a time to do your school work, say you make yourself do it 2 hours or so everyday after school, only think about school work at that time other then when your acctually in school. After that do things to take your mind off it, chat with friends, come to Teen Vibe , play games etc. The more you balance it all out the less you will stress out. Just try not to worry about it, Im sure you are smart and don't have to try toooo hard. You sound smart to me so getting As or Bs is a good thing. Getting an A doesn't make you perfect and if your doing it for attention maybe ask yourself why you want this attentioon and if this is the best way to go about getting it. Maybe there is a different problem thats underlying this obbsession with grades? It might not even be about the grades. What is your disability? If you don't want to say it on the forum you can always private messege me.

I'm hard of hearing, at since it is hard for me to socialize-I sort of want to be noticed for my achievements and the way I surprise people by getting good grades and the rest. I basically do all my homework and then relax like you said everyday, I think I tend to get nervous when I'm taking a test or when I'm doing a harder subject (like math) and don't have the opportunity to ask someone to check it over for me. It works, but I know that won't happen forever. I usually take my mind off of school by spending time online...like I'm doing now.

Well i think you should study till you are confident you can pass the test you are studying for! No all at once ((don't want to blow your brains out XD)) Study for a while then stop and go eat or go online for 20-30 minutes then go back to studying. Do this until you are confident you can pass the test (( try and try out new hobbies sports and clubs to get your mind off of school when your on tour free time!))

Actually, I have quite a bit of hobbies...can't seem to find time to do all of them. Anyways, nice suggestion, I'll try it for this week and see what happens. I think I'm relaxing a bit, I got a C on a math test and I simply just tried to listen a bit more in class.

Maybe have someone give you a mini quiz. Make up a quiz of your own that you think will be key questions and have a someone ask you the questions :] [/center]

I tried the quiz idea tonight...(well, we had to make a study guide in order to study some vocab words so it was more of a fill in the blank worksheet) Anyways, I'm pretty sure I'll do just fine. There is only one problem with studying till I'm confident that I'll pass it..Well, I really want more time to spend on my hobbies and I get no time during the weekdays to do so because of the studying involved. If I didn't have to study, then I would have an hour or two to spend time on it but I still want to get really good grades. What should I do about that?

Are you saying you want more time during the weekdays for hobbies?

Yeah...I think I need to take longer breaks because I keep spending 2 hours doing a simple worksheet that should take 30 minutes max. and groaning about it. If I just do it, I would have plenty of time for whatever I want to do. Sometimes during week my life feels like homework, short internet time, staying up late, and an occasional blast of gymnastics.

Why is a 30 min worksheet taking 2 hours? If you can cut the time down a bit then you would have more time for fun!! Maybe try getting more things done during school on breaks like lunch etc.

I have already been doing homework during lunch...it takes 2 hours because I stare at the sheet not wanting to do it but knowing that I should. I sort of came up with something for breaks and it seems to be working. And I can't do a whole lot of homework during study hall because I have study hall very early in the moring (second hour)...
