I have a question what, exactly, is crash dieting, what does it do to your body, how much weight can it cause a person to lose over a few days, and what do I do about a friend that is crash dieting? -Sugar Baby

Crash dieting is when u like take out food from what you normal eat and loose weight. Kind of like starving yourself but not quite. Its the wrost diet ever because from starving yourself you become dehydrated and you don't loose weight you loose water weight.
Once u loose the water weight and start eating again you get Fatter then u were in the first place. Its not a good idea to do at all.
tell your friend that it makes you gain more weight after then before you lost it.

Crash dieting, right, just makes you more overweight because as i've said, anything that you do eat gets stored as fat because your body needs to function so it stores anything you get. Eating also increases your metabolism, cause once that food goes in, your body starts to break it down.

Crash dieting is when someone restricts their eating to a small number of calories, or only certain types of food, in order to lose weight in a short period of time. People crash diet when they want to lose weight, but they don't have the willpower or intelligence to follow a healthy eating and exercise plan (the only way to truly lose weight and keep it off). Crash dieting can help you lose a few pounds fast, but the joke is that most of the weight you lose is water weight, because your body gets dehydrated from starving itself. So (1) when you drink water eventually, the weight goes right back on, fast; and (2) dehydration makes your metabolism slow down, so your body stops burning off calories, and when you eat normally again, you gain weight even faster than you did before. It's a vicious circle.
Dieting makes people fat eventually, not thin. Dieting is dangerous because it can make your body lose important minerals and muscle, which make you weak and can even damage your internal organs. There is also the danger of developing an eating disorder, which can make you sicken and DIE. The ONLY way to lose weight and keep it gone forever is by eating healthy foods, eating enough (to keep your metabolism going, you need to eat regular meals and healthy snacks throughout the day) and exercising regularly. If you exercise 3 times a week for 30 minutes each time, you will burn off lots of fat and build muscle, which tightens your body and burns even more calories when you're just sitting around. So exercise and good eating, not crash dieting, is the super weight loss secret. Read on...
You can help your friend by pointing out the dangers, telling her about how she is slowing down her metabolism and how crash dieting can actually make her fat. Then suggest she take a smarter approach and start eating healthy while exercising. Why don't you two start an exercise program together? It's much easier to stick to a routine when you're doing it with a friend, and it's a lot more fun too. You could do aerobics videotapes together, take an exercise class or go for after-school jogs. You'll both get in shape and feel great about yourselves, and it would be a lovely thing you'd be doing for your friend. Also, don't forget to tell your friend how great you think she looks already.
