Maybe 12 13 or 14 year olds don't understand true love but umm yea ...pretty much beyond that, I'm pretty sure they can understand what love is. Most of the teen relationships don't work out, but it doesn't mean they don't understand what love is....

I think love is just a perception thing.
But I think that kids these days (and yes I am one of them) shouldn't get into relationships too early, they should enjoy their innocence.
I've had a few relationships since when I was 13/14 and all I got from them was heartache, it made me feel like s**t when they ended. Know I'm a bit older I think I'm more mature and able to cope with a relationship.
But I think it depends on the person and their views as to wether they are 'in love' or not.

WRONG REASON A lot of people search for love, to fill a void, or that emptiness.
Love, drugs, addictions - all temporary distractions. You don't need romance to live, there are other loves: family, friendship, etc.

i think it depends on the way you think..thats my opinion though for example: you ever heard of someone with an older, wiser mind? i know this 12 yr old who has a mind of a 25 yr old.. she knows more things about her surrondings (or the world) then a typical 16 yr old would know--- and the one reson why she doesnt get in relationships is cuz she knows how ppl her age think and believe!!!

Well think of it this way. Do young teens date someone because they have a great personality or because they are physically attracted to them? Most younger people wouldn't consider dating someone unless they at least looked good or were popular. Not everyone...just most.

True enough Allianne.
That reminds me. Dating at a younger age is sometimes about "status" among your peers, more then love, or any thing else. Which is unfortunate really.

Hi... I'm a 14 year old, and I'm not really trying to defy the first poster. But my mom says over and over that people my age don't know anything about love, and sometimes it just drives me crazy. I mean, after a while, it just gets sickening. Anyways. That's not what I was planning on saying. However, even if people my age or so don't understand what "love" is, would it kill the world if we admitted that we had a crush on someone, and possibly tried to get to know them? Just... a little question. Heh.

No I think its more when people who are 12-14 say "there getting married" and are attached to the dude at the hip and stuff.

I think it's impossible to ever understand love completely. The idea of love at first site is very idolized in civilised society today and its lust that ruined one of my relationships with a friend. Love at first site is impossible, flat out...

Haven't talked to the father since. --------------------------------------- Anyways, yes, I agree that 12-17 is too young. I found out the hard way

Most of the teen relationships don't work out, but it doesn't mean they don't understand what love is.... They don't understand what it takes to make a relationship work, in my opinion you can't start counting times when your in a relationship untill yer at least 18 years old. 12-13 year olds all they do is say, WANNA GO OUT WITH ME, and then couple days later they dump one another and go with someone else.
