Ok..ive never had an eating disorder..i love food too much ;D Which is why..ive got a sticky out belly now im 14. Im 5ft and weigh 7stone,i checked myself on the BMI and it says im the weight im supposed to be.
But..that doesnt stop me having a podgy belly. Basically i want to be thin..i want to have a nice washboard stomach, cos sometimes i look in the mirror and think i look a little bit pregnant!
Ive read about fasting..where you dont eat any food for as long as you want, and just drink water. Im seriously thinking about doing this. But..i dont think im someone at risk of getting an ED,because when i look in a mirror,i dont get thoughts and hear voices telling me im fat..Its just me saying im fat and wanna be skinny. This isnt bad is it?

Just eat healthy and do lots a sit ups like try and do like 20-50 a night then go up and up I do like 500 now or more if Im not tierd. I either do it right before bed or right when I wake up and it really works fasting won't do anything but make you weak.
Sit-ups will burn the fat in your stomach and turn it to muscle.

I cant do exercise..because i cant handle it. I get tired within about 2 minutes or so..so i seriously cant do that, its not an option.
I do eat quite healthily,i have fruit a lot,and salads. Like i said..im a member of a pro-self injury site, and a lot of people on there with ED who have done fasting have said its really good. Im podgy..and ive told my mum i wanna fast. So i think ill do it..i dont know when though.
Cos i need to get that washboard tummy i so desperately want ;D

fasting won't give u a wash board tummy whoever told u that is wrong, fasting makes u malnurished and fatigued. they only way to get washboard abs is to work out the muscels in ur stomach. You might not be able to handle it now but if u do it everyday u will be able to do it like its nothing in no time. I strongly suggest u dont fast.

Rachel, If you haven't noticed I've had a eating disorder since I was 11yrs old Im 18 now and I know that fasting is NOT good for you body in anyway unless your going in for sugery and they need you cleaned out! Those pro-SI sites are CRAP they do no good for you other then encourage you to self-harm which is *beep*ing horrible. You want abs? You have to work for them and that means working out. Everyone when they start out excersizing can't stand it for longer then a minute but if you consitantly contiune to do it you will get better at it and then you will be able to excersize with not getting tierd for a long time. You have to build your body up and without doing stomach excersize you can not build up muscle. Fasting will make you look pale, tierd, it makes your fat more jiggly and your skin feel wierd. I faster for two weeks and was put into the hospital on my death bed when I was 16. Seriously ask babycakes she was like that too. FASTING IS NOT THE ANSWER please don't harm yourself and do the right and HEALTHY thing. (the caps aren't yelling just making it stand out)

Dear Rachel:
Sounds like a hard decision, because on one hand, there is that perfect image of a body (wash board abs) and the other, the consequences. I understand how you feel, it can be very tempting sometimes - considering the price of not eating to get that perfect body or body part.
However, there is no such thing as a perfect body. Even if you decide to stop eating (for as long as you want) and only drink. The problem with that is, you can go for about 7 days before you starve (to death). That also doesn't mean that it will take the fat out of your body - usually what happens is, your stomache ends up eating itself, and you lose a lot of muscle. So once you start eating again - you will gain double the weight. That is usually the case, causing many people to continually be on diets (yo-yo dieters).
Then.
On the other hand, if you decide not to eat. Your body will starve and oh course you will look thinner. Not slimmer, but thinner, because it is dying.
Hmm...hard choice eh? Guess there is no right or wrong choice, just a consequence for every action. I'm sure you are a smart girl and will know what is best for yourself. Take care. Good luck.

God, I'd do anything to be bigger! I'm short and tiny...it's horrible. I'd much rather have more curves and I think ur so lucky! It just goes to show that no one is truly happy with their physical appearance. Fasting isn't the way to go. Like they said before, try doing crunches and situps. Yeah, you won't be able to do much at first. That's why you gotta work at it, and eventually you'll be able to be doing more sets. Don't let the work hold you back. The easy way, fasting, isn't the right and healthy way.

The easy way, fasting, isn't the right and healthy way. I'm exactly the same. Everything about me is small, and I'm so skinny that it actually scares me. I HATE it, and I'm not truly happy with my appearance either. Noteworthy is what Beautiful Disaster said and that is so true. People change the way they look all the time, they try to alter their body image, just so that they can look like models, or look the way they want, or have their "ideal" body image, or have boys like them, or whatever. It's wrong. My recommendation to you is to forget about fasting, EVER. If you want to lose weight to have a washboard tummy, then stop and think about it. What you may not realize is that people have ruined their lives doing that. It starts with something as small as I just need to lose a little weight... and it turns into, I HATE the way I look! I need to lose more weight!People can even go to the point where they die from doing something like that. Now I know you're probably thinking, I would never do that! but think again. Don't you think that maybe those people, at first, thought exactly the same way as you did? If they knew where they were going to end up, do you honestly think you would have done that in the first place?! Like vy said, there is no perfect body. Remember that, because it's so true. You look beautiful, I'm sure, "podgy belly" (as you called it) or not! People have started judging based on looks, on body shape and size, and that's not right, because eventually everything will just turn into what it has for you: a desire to change yourself.

Your welcome Rachel.
It can be hard sometimes, not your fault for feeling this way. The media, and society have created this false illusion- even models themselves envy what they sometimes look like on camera, because it isn't really them: the photographs have been edited, lighted, and it is really the result of a lot of makeup , or what not. So don't feel bad about this okay? We all do it from time to time, even models.
Guess the grass always looks greener on the other side.

Yep. If you're uncomfortable with yourself then you could diet. But you're only 14. You really need that extra food to grow and mature ect. Since you say that you like to eat, why don't you just try eating smaller portions before you try dieting? Cut out all that extra snacking and stick to your main three meals...and if you get hungry grab an apple. I think that sounds good, especially since you don't have to give up all your good foods for just salads. Good luck!!

Hmm if you tire it in like 2 minutes try doing as much as you can and stop for about 10-15 minutes and do more. This will biuld up your stamina for excersising tremendously! It works beleave me. I had to do that because I took like 9 months off of excersising and practicing martial arts. I am now doing 600 situps twice every other day. And it will deffinantly reduce your stomach no matter how long it takes you to do how many you want to do.

Pro-anna sites are full of people trying terribly hard to deny the reality. it's *beep*ing terrifying to admit the pain and loss of control. So instead people surround themselves with people who support there distorted views. that way they don't have to deal with the fear and hurt. A lot of people move away from those pro-anna sites to recovery.
